Suction rolls made by HLM provide the highest performance on all machines, from low-speed pulp drying lines to the latest high-speed board, paper and tissue machines. In addition, we also offer spare rolls for all other makes. Our latest roll technological innovations can be adapted to new spare rolls without losing their compatibility with existing rolls. In this way your suction roll performance can easily be improved.

   Functional solutions for all applications   

HLM suction rolls are designed based on machine-specific requirements for suction roll dimensions, vacuum outlet location and gear arrangement. The roll can be constructed for either grease or oil lubrication.

The suction box is dimensioned for minimum defection to enable optimal operating conditions for axial seals. The interior of the suction box is shaped to prevent dirt build-up, provide optimized air flow with minimal pressure loss and even vacuum level over the whole suction zone area.

   Duplex and S.S 304 stainless steel shell for long life   

Shell dimensions and optimal shell material are carefully selected based on the demands of the application. Detailed strength calculations ensure a long, trouble-free lifetime for the shell. An optimal shell drilling pattern ensures efficient and uniform water removal, minimizes the risk of suction hole shadow marking and reduces the noise level. HLM suction roll shells are made of the highest-quality stainless steel shell blanks, and are manufactured

either by plate hot rolling or a centrifugal casting process. The high-precision drilling used ensures accurate hole positioning and good hole cleanability due to superior hole surface smoothness.

   Latest roll cover technology   

HLM also provides a versatile range of suction roll covers. These include advanced high nip pressure rubber and polyurethane covers with superior wear and water resistance properties, hard coatings and a wide selection of rubber covers. Whatever the suction roll, we can provide a suitable roll cover to boost its performance to the maximum, without cover-specific load or speed limitations.

   Options for ultimate performance   

To slow down seal wear and prolong seal lifetime, the HLM Seal Strip Lock was developed. It is a reliable, non-contact, axial seal construction with seal strips that are slightly detached from the inner surface of the suction roll shell during operation. It can reduce suction roll power consumption, noise level and the need for axial seal water lubrication. Some of our customer mills have reported over two-year long roll change intervals using Coldwater brand Seal Strip Lock.

The reliability of water shower pipes, used for suction box seal lubrication and shell cleaning, can be maximized by feeding water from both pipe ends. This kind of double-feed construction also makes it possible to occasionally flush the pipe and its nozzles clean by feeding water into the pipe from one end and leading it out the other. For positions where suction roll shell cleanliness presents a major challenge, HLM Shell Flow H is an oscillating high pressure shell cleaning shower pipe solution.

A comprehensive customer documentation package with operating and maintenance manuals are included in suction roll deliveries. Optional training and start-up assistance is also available as needed.
